"Molly", Silky Terrier, 6

Adopt Me

Molly

Breed:
Silky Terrier
Sex:
Female
Age:
VIPP#:

Contact VIPP About Me

Molly is a 6 year old, female Australian Silky Terrier, a smart, alert, cute little terrier who is an excellent watch dog. She is a true terrier when following a scent or sizing up a stranger. She is completely house-trained and is accustomed to sleeping indoors
She walks well on a lead and will dance around endlessly for dog treats. Molly would like a home with someone who is home most of the time and wants companionship. Molly doesn't like to be left alone for long periods of time, although she adapts as needed. She deserves to be with someone who wants a good companion, preferably not in a house with high-energy children or other dogs.

Molly was savagely attacked by a pack of larger dogs while living with a former owner. As a result, Molly has occasional leg seizures, where her right rear leg constricts and her body contorts, but she doesn't appear to be in pain - just ungainly for a few minutes until the seizure passes. The vet says there is nothing to be done about this but to comfort Molly when it happens - which is about 4-6 times per year, unpredictably. As a result of the attack, Molly can become very defensive when big dogs are anywhere in the vicinity, particularly if those dogs are labs. Molly will bark her head off as if to tell everyone nearby "watch out, they're coming to get me again". It's something to be aware of when out on a walk, in case she happens to see a big lab and gets excited. iF you would like to meet Molly, contact Vashon Island Pet Protectors at 206-567-5222. There is a $100 adoption fee.

Bear is the perfect dog....he's great with kids (very, very young infants, toddlers and teens), all adults, learns to love and protect (bark) his home. Loves car rides. He is soooo smart……a star in his Obedience Class. He is so cute with his toys......he brings his "babies" (a stuffed toy) when he needs to go out to potty. He brings a tupperware container when he wants to have his meals. He now weighs 68-69 pounds up from the 30 pounds at rescue. He has his own mat that he knows how to "go, sit, down, stay" on. He has made friends with a grumpy old orange cat...he doesn't chase him in or out. He is very, very interested in the moving and/or cheeping chickens but other than an initial short sprint after them, he leaves them alone. He will try to eat any and everything (makes treats an easy way to train!) probably as a result of his prior starvation. He knows that everyone on his side of the car will give him treats (bank, Zoomies, coffee stands.....). This guy came out of horrendous conditions with his basic, loving personality intact. He deserves a wonderful new home! If you would like to meet Bear, contact Vashon Island Pet protectors at 206-567-5222. There is a $150 adoption fee.

Daisy

Adopt Ms. Daisy! We are looking for a beautiful and peaceful home and guardian(s) for our sweet cocker spaniel girl named "Ms. Daisy." Daisy was dumped by a family going thru a divorce and this sweet thing was traumatized in the experience. She's blossoming in her foster home and we're looking for a person to see her beauty and commit to her for life. Daisy is 10-years-old, healthy, spayed, up-to-date on shots, healthy, house broken and is both playful and calm. She's losing her hearing so you'll have to come up with a little bit of fun sign language! Daisy rides well in a car and loves walks/attention/treats. She was hit by children in the household going thru divorce so she's sensitive about being touched on her behind (this will lessen over time) and we want to place her in a household without young children. If you're looking for a dog to be your shadow, Ms. Daisy may be your canine companion! For more information, call Anne (Vashon Island Pet Protectors) at 425 922 1325 or email dogs@vipp.org. There is a $100 adoption fee.

"Iggy", Tan & white/Pit Bull terrier, 2

Adopt Me

Iggy

Breed:
Tan & white/Pit Bull terrier
Sex:
Male
Age:
VIPP#:
240-08
Contact VIPP About Me

Iggy, our 2-year old love of a dog is in need of a new home. We're sad to relocate him but he's big (70 lbs), and clumsy, and excitable and loves our toddler (also clumsy and excitable) and our toddler's crackers/cookies/toys a little too much. It wasn't so bad before the kid decided to start moving independently. But now we have to keep our always moving, cracker-holding, into everything, dog-height child and our loveable, wiggly, oaf of a child-height dog in separate rooms. Sadly, this leaves Iggy alone most of the time.

Iggy can sit, stay, wait, fetch, "go to bed", "leave it", speak, catch food, "clean" floors, is great with our cat and at the dog park, and is an all-time champ at tug-of-war (and drop it). We rescued him from a shelter on the east-coast 2 years ago as a puppy. He is fixed, has all of his shots, and is an indoor family member - he's a wimp about the rain but LOVES to sit in a chair and watch other people get wet. He requires a loving and small child-free home with a fenced yard and daily walks to let out some energy. He can be very strong and is a lot of dog so he does need an alpha human with large-dog experience.

Please email his current family at talktothegoat@yahoo.com if you have questions or think you might be interested in meeting him. Contact Vashon Island Pet Protectors at dog@vipp.org for an adoption application. There is a $150 adoption fee.
