Vashon Island Pet Protectors (VIPP) invites you to help celebrate 26 years of serving pets and their families on Vashon Island. The Coconuttiest FUR BALL™ Ever will take place on August 14, 2010 at Vashon’s Open Space for Arts and Community.
Dust off your grass skirts, tighten up your coconut bras, and pick out your brightest Hawaiian shirt because you don’t want to miss the Coconuttiest fun you can have in our own little island paradise. Come enjoy great food at the Coconuttiest luau, bid on great travel experiences, be enchanted by the Hula Cats, and indulge in the sweet temptations of the Dessert Dash.
This year’s auction will be overflowing with the Hawaiian spirit of aloha!
“Aloha” has many meanings, including: Love, affection, compassion, mercy, kindness, grace, charity, beloved, compassion, charity, as well as Greetings! Hello! and Good-bye! There really isn’t a better way to describe the dedication of VIPP’s volunteers and friends in the work they do to protect our pets.
For the second year at the FUR BALL, Elaine Summers has wrangled nine different artists (including herself) to turn life-size fiberglass puppies into pieces of art. The Puppy Love arty pups will be auctioned off during the FUR BALL. You can preview the puppies during July when they will be displayed at island businesses. And you will be able to start the bidding, as soon as they are ready, by visiting VIPP’s website www.vipp.org
We are collecting donations for the live and silent auction, and bottles of wine valued over $20 to be auctioned at FUR BALL. If you have something of value that you would like to donate, please contact us.

Here is why your support at this event is so important to us.
After twenty-six years, VIPP still operates as an all-volunteer organization. Every penny we raise goes to the care of the cats and dogs that are touched by VIPP. The funds that we raise from the FUR BALL™ covers the majority of our operating costs, which in 2009 alone were $165,233.38. In 2009, this money was used to:
ß -Spay or neuter 161 cats and dogs.
ß Provide medical-surgical care to 423 animals beyond spay and neuter.
ß Find homes for 156 cats and dogs.
ß Return 61 cats and dogs to their owners.
