Thanks to all who attended last years' auction and all the contributions from the many sponsors and artists - Below are some great items/trips that were auctioned off at VIPP's largest Fundraiser.
Where else can you get anything from a weeks stay in a spectacular vacation home in Costa Rica to a delicious and authentic Litter Box Cake complete with a scoop? There are many great items to bid on this year including a stay at Hotel DeLuxe in Portland, a luxury pet friendly hotel, and a weeks stay in a fabulous condo in downtown Vancouver, BC. Once again, island artists including Jiji Saunders, Margaret Tylczak, Jan Wall, Odin Lonning, Donna Romero, Greg Wessel, Nancy Taylor Stonington, Kathleen Kinney and others have generously donated of fabulous works of are to support Vashon Island Pet Protectors.
After twenty-four years, VIPP still operates as an all-volunteer organization. Every penny we raise goes to the care of the cats and dogs that are touched by VIPP. The funds that we raise from the FUR BALL™ covers the majority of our operating costs, which in 2007 alone were $107,127. In 2007, this money was used to:
ß -Spay or neuter 159 cats and dogs.
ß Provide medical-surgical care to 399 animals beyond spay and neuter.
ß Find homes for 153 cats and dogs.
ß Return 84 cats and dogs to their owners.
We have tagged this year’s auction “The Most Fantastique Fur Ball™ Ever.” Because our event generates so much interest on the island, we are expanding our auction area at the VFW Hall. We are holding the silent auction under a tent and the live auction inside. In addition we will have the usual great entertainment, food and drink. Best of all we will have the most interesting and fun auction items found on Vashon.
Have you been to one yet? If not, this is your chance to make an impact by being a Sponsor, Donor and / or Volunteer this year. The Most Fantastique Fur Ball™ Ever! will be held on August 2, 2008 at the VFW Hall on Vashon Highway. Tickets to the event are $20.00 and are available starting July 1st at the following locations: Books By the Way, Vashon Bookshop, Fair Isle and Pandora's box. They are also available on this website under the SUPPORT section - click on "donate now" and choose Fur Ball™ Ticket(s). Come one come all to the FUR BALL™ support the dogs and cats of Vashon and Cough It Up.
